Eh....Writing a pattern is harder than I thought....

I've been writing this pattern for two days now and I have learned 1.)translating a pattern from my head into a written form takes TIME 2.)It is much harder for me to describe a process than to show a process :D

So, if the meantime, here are some pics of baby blankets I made when my kids were babies!
This is a wave pattern that I love to make with left over bits of skeins of yarn. As long as the wave edge is kept the same color (shown here in sandy tan) just about any color yarn can be used!
When I was pregnant with my first child, we didn't know if we would had a little miss or mister. So I used gender neutral shades of aqua, forest green, and purple.

Hopefully I will have the Vibrant Granny Square Baby Blanket Pattern for you tomorrow!!!

Etsy Tuesday

Spring is also the time when I most feel like creating colorful blankets for the soon-to-be born babies in my life. A+B Originals has taken the granny square to new levels using bright, easy care fibers and a sweet little owl embellishment.

Even A+B Original's pastels are pretty hip :D

Tomorrow, I'll show you my own granny square baby blanket pattern and pics of my blanket in progress!

Spring and Snow

Spring is here in Nebraska! Crocuses are starting to show, birds are chirping, the grass is turning green, and a light snow has been falling for two days.
Colorful Slouch Beanies are about to be unleashed!

The Basic Collection

The Basic Collection is designed with the idea of simple silhouettes and hassle free wearing. The Beanie, The Slouch Beanie (my favorite), The Ear Flap Hat, and The Skinny Scarf are included in this collection. Right now, I'm working on adding more color choices as well as mittens and mitts for fall 2011.

Work Room Wednesday

This misshapen sweater was made when I was sixteen. The sleeves are two different lengths, the waist band is looser than the body of the sweater, and I forgot to weave in most of the yarn tails when I did the finishing on it. I love this sweater because of its imperfections! It shows me how incredibly far my work has come and reminds me of my original inspiration for pedestrian!

Etsy Tuesday

I was in line at Walmart this evening (buying some Juicy Juice drink boxes) and realized I was wearing a new necklace from the Whittler
carrying a tote bag from MyTaylorMade
with my money in a zip up pouch from kukubee
and I put my receipt in an organizer from downstairsDesign

Ps this morning I washed with soap from sunbasilgarden, too!

I was so proud! Have you ever had one of those aha moments when you discover how awesome Etsy is?

Roadies!

Roadies, a screen print shop and coffee bar in North Platte
carries many of my hat and scarf styles. Right now assorted Ear Flap Hats, Beanies, Dragon Hats, Slouch Beanies, and Skinny Scarves are available. The conversation is stellar and the graphics are outstanding. Becky and Mandy, a mother-daughter design team, are working with me on redesigning my brand (yay).

I'm usually there Monday mornings and Saturday afternoons. If you want to set up a time to meet for custom crochet work, help with finishing your knit or crochet project, or to have a cup of coffee contact me on Facebook , Etsy convo, or through the comments on this blog!

Work Room Wednesday

My studio is in the basement of my home, in what formerly was the kitchen of a converted apartment. The studio has windows on the south and east walls, giving it great light from morning to late afternoon. I'm using the old kitchen cabinets for storing most of my yarn supply. Partially used skeins are kept in stackable Sterilite rubber drawers. At this point, I think I have more fibers than my small town's local yarn shop!!

Etsy Tuesday

This winter I was so excited to be able to purchase my VERY OWN throw pillow from pillowhappy on Etsy. The pillow cover was so well made and I love how it has brightened up my living room!

The Nomad Collection

The Nomad Collection is knitted from a huge ball of yarn ends and remnants tied together. These assorted strands twist and loop together to form an awesome mix of chunkiness. When I'm wrapping the fibers into this ball, I imagine how the colors will accent each other. Knitting is a surprise and I'm so eager to get to the next random color change!
